MCATSIA's Policy Initiatives

Policy Initiatives Overview
MCATSIA has developed a Work Plan for 2008/2009 which outlines its key policy initiatives.

MCATSIA Population Projects

In response to emerging demographic trends, MCATSIA developed a draft paper including examination of the issues relating to emerging demographic trends in Indigenous populations. The paper also considered gaps in existing census and administrative data, particularly as they relate to informing the Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage (OID) framework. Population and Diversity: Policy Implications of Emerging Indigenous Demographic Trends, commissioned from Dr John Taylor of the Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research (CAEPR) at the Australian National University, is also available on the CAEPR website.

In response to the findings of this paper, MCATSIA is supporting a three year research project entitled the MCATSIA Population Projects. The work is being undertaken by a team at CAEPR.  Findings are being published on a dedicated MCATSIA Population Projects webpage, hosted by CAEPR.
